Common NEET Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Your guide to steering clear of pitfalls that cost thousands of aspirants their dream medical seat

Preparing for NEET is undoubtedly challenging, but what makes it even tougher is repeating the same mistakes that others have already made. After years of mentoring NEET aspirants, I've identified patterns in what holds students back. The good news? Most of these mistakes are completely preventable.

1. Neglecting the NCERT Foundation

This is the single biggest mistake I see. Students jump straight into reference books and mock tests while skipping NCERT thoroughly. NEET questions, especially in Biology, are directly pulled from NCERT concepts. Weak fundamentals catch up with you when you face question variations.

What to do instead:
Read NCERT at least twice. First time focus on understanding every concept deeply. Second time, make concise notes. For Physics and Chemistry, solve every example and practice problem in NCERT before moving to advanced materials.
